It's that Time Again

It's that time again.  And boy howdy how busy things are around here.  I say every year that I won't allow the holidays to consume me.  But Christmas time is my favorite time of year so everything I want to and need to do consumes me.  I work five days a week now and it just seems like there is no time for anything extra.  I am certainly not complaining, I love my job outside of our little home sweet home.  I bet my beautiful precious Rufus Jack would love it if mommy stayed home more often with him though.

HapPy SuMMer

I hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful weekend, celebrating July 4th, our beautiful country, family, and friends.

Don't you just love this time of year?  To me, it's the calm before the big storm.  The holidays are coming but not for a few months.  I like calm.

We plan to grill hamburgers and hot dogs tonight while watching some fireworks.  Just some quality family time topped off with cherry pie.  The pretty pie dish below is my favorite one.

I think my pie looks almost as yummy as this beautiful pie dish I found at a thrift store not too long ago.  Right now I have it sitting in the center of our kitchen table.

So glad to say that I found the lamp to my china (Pfaltzgraff Folk Art) and ordered it.  I am in love.
When the lady posted it she listed it with the lampshade being faded so I told her to keep it and just ship the lamp.  I purchased a plain white shade and covered it in navy gingham.

It originally came with the solid country blue shade you see on the left below.  That's the seller's picture.  I like mine.  My sweet Builder Man rewired the lamp for me since this lamp was manufactured in the 80s.

A little touch of Americana on the mantel along with Builder Man's mules.

A few weekends ago I made a peach pie.  We do love pie around here so it didn't last long.

I didn't get any pictures but the last two weekends were filled with constant hatching of Keets (baby Guinea Fowl) and Quail that we had two incubators full of.  So cute!

Builder Man and I also took a little road trip for some fun shopping and yummy eating last weekend.

Been A While

It's been a while since posting anything about our little home sweet home in the woods.  We've been so busy with other things in life, we haven't really done anything new.

About six months ago I wanted the pretty chandelier in our bedroom taken down and painted black.  It was satin gold with prisms and I just simply got tired of the look.  I wanted to add more of the old rustic colonial into the bedroom since Builder Man made our barn doors headboard.  When he took it down, he said no to painting it and told me to find another chandelier to hang.  I finally did.

Builder Man has been a little under the weather with his health recently so Banjo Boy hung it for me.  I love it.

And just look at this precious blue chalkboard I found one day.  I love chalkboards.

I'm approaching my 50th birthday.  I just have to say, I give God praise and glory for my life and every single blessing.  I'm healthy, I'm blessed and happy.  I'm looking forward to more and more of God each day.

Time for Rufus and Cleaning

This morning before anyone else could hog my time I gave it all to Rufus.  I always get up before the sun to spend some quality time with the SON in prayer, thoughts, thankfulness.

With the clock ticking by so fast each morning, I don't always have a lot of time for Rufus before housework, cooking, job, etc.  This is our Saturday morning.  I plan to clean a lot later today and purchased myself a little incentive which you'll read about later in the post.  Do you ever do that?

Me and Rufus went outside into the beautiful fresh spring grass.  Wet from several days of raining, and just slightly cool.

We played a lot of ball in between some picture taking.  I can't believe he'll be 3 years old in June.  He's dirty and stinky and needs a bath this afternoon when it's warmer.  But he knows his mommy wuvs him no matter how dirty and stinky he is.

Yesterday on my lunch hour I found this adorable little chalk board.  I love chalk boards.  I found this one at a Bealls Outlet that I love to plunder through.  It matches my china and I knew instantly that I wanted it.  I gave myself the excuse that this would be my incentive to dust and redecorate a little as I cleaned today.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.  Thanks for stopping by and please come back soon.  I'm making red velvet cupcakes tonight if you want one with coffee.

Still Adjusting

Hey, hello, hi!  I feel like it's been forever since I blogged.

I've been working hard and hard at work.  I just told hubby last night that I haven't even been able to enjoy my early spring flowers that have already boomed.

It always takes me a long time to get used to major changes.  I'm still 100% in love with my new job. I've been adjusting for a little over 2 months now.

Here are some screen savers I'm going to put on my computer at work this morning.  Just trying to cozy up my home away from home for 8 hours each day.  I've done little things here and there.

I miss home sweet home here on Lillie Mae Acres when I'm gone.  But God did bless me with a great job, great atmosphere, and some of the greatest co-workers/new friends there could be.

Thanks for dropping in.  I pray everyone has a blessed week.  Enjoy spring.

New Job New Cookbook

Hey there.  There's a lot going on right now, I've been a very busy lady.  I've got God to thank for everything, He always comes through for this ole' girl.  I am too blessed to be stressed, as my pretty tote has on it.

For several years now I've been praying for God to open the door for me to get back into a nice office job, the clerical field, full time with benefits.  I held on in faith.  He showed me once again that He doesn't do something half way.  I have a great new job, full time with benefits and it all happened suddenly, within a few weeks.

I'm sort of still in the adjustment period with my new daily routine.  But I'm loving every minute of it.

I hit the road early, I have a beautiful drive in before the crowds hit the highway.

I'm usually armed with coffee or Coke.

I'm always armed with God's word, my shield.

See how bad my truck needs detailing.  Well I'm taking it in for a full detail this morning.  Not exactly what I wanted to do on a Saturday, but since I have to leave it I'll be spending the day with my son in town.  That makes it worth it.

I listen to SBN radio or CDs of my preacher preaching all the way to work.  I commute about 27 miles one way.  Long enough to pray and worship God before the day gets started.  I love it.

Oh, and I'm proud to announce I'm in another book.  Don't you just love a good slice of cake with your afternoon coffee?  Well when this one hits the shelves, look over on page 200 and try my Lemon Crunch Pound Cake.  It's a yummy one.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a blessed weekend.

Banjo Boy turns 21! Yes 21!

Good beautiful February 23rd evening folks.  It's been a while and I was missing blogging.  I've been a little sad today, my baby turned 21 years old.  As I worked and it would cross my mind, I would almost take a deep breath and gasp a little.  Hey, it might sound silly but I just can't believe it.

In a lot of ways Banjo Boy is a carbon copy of his daddy Builder Man.  In a lot of ways they are opposites.  May he bring as much joy to the rest of my life as he has for the past 21 years.
