I Need To Craft More

I'm so ready for spring.  We're slowly getting started on a long list of things we want to do. I want to craft more too.  When I can get serious about creating something, it's therapeutic.

Visit our Etsy shop  http://www.etsy.com/shop/AtticOfHeirlooms?ref=si_shop

And have a blessed evening.

Adding More For Builder Man

Oh no! The spring to-do list just keeps growing and we haven't had the extra finances or time to really start pecking away at it yet.  I just keep adding to it though.  I am a dreamer and a planner.

I think it's time to ask Builder Man very sweetly to disconnect the chandelier from our bedroom ceiling so I can sand it and paint it black.  I want to take the prisms off and give it a total makeover, then it will have a colonial look to it.

After all, I'll have to have that colonial light fixture to match the new headboard.  New headboard?  Oh, didn't I tell you, that's on the list too.  I want him to build this for us and he'll also have to build a matching mirror to hang over the dresser.  I want our headboard stained Espresso and I do not want the lamps attached to it.  I have no doubt that sweet Builder Man and I can pull this off, he is so talented and amazes me over and over.  I draw it or show him a picture and he can build it.  I am so blessed.

(This pic came from Pinterest)

Maybe I need to go down this already much too long spring to-do list and put everything in the order that I really want it done in.  It really doesn't matter, we are so funny.  It's nothing for us to just get started on one project and skip to the next.  It keeps us busy and we have so much fun.

So you see how the chandelier has got to go!  But the fixture can be saved and made over to be a colonial fixture.  Just wait, you'll see!

Fresh Favorites

Fresh favorites of mine certainly include fresh fruit and vegetables but there are some fresh smells that I love to clean with.

I fell in love with the Swifter Wet Mops about a year ago and love love love the Open Window Fresh Scent.  I just mopped my kitchen and laundry room floors.  I use my regular Libman mop on the other floors and love to use Murphy's Oil soap.  Yes I'm naming brands because that's the ones I use.  I am not advertising for these folks.  When I get tired of these smells I'll move on to others.  I used Fabuloso for a long time and can hardly stand to smell it anymore.

This afternoon my niece called me from Missouri.  She was buying her ingredients to make her own laundry detergent.  I've been making ours for almost a year and we love it.  I use a recipe for liquid detergent.  That Fels Naptha soap makes it smell so yummy!  I don't think I'll ever tire of that smell.

For fabric softener, I use the Great Value brand Bold Clean Scent with the green lid.  Love it!

Well, that's it folks.  What I listed above are my favorite cleaning products right now.  I didn't list the stinky stuff I clean with like bleach and Clorox sprays but I certainly can't live without those either.

Spring Like Weather for Rufus

Our January weather has been beautiful.  This does nothing for my spring fever though.  We're in for a cool spell later this week and weekend and a lot more to come so I'm not doing too much outside except for playing with Rufus.

We enjoyed this morning so much and Rufus got a much needed bath before the cool spell gets to us.  He was beginning to smell like a dog.

Rufus demands so much more attention than any puppy we've ever had it seems.  I've done some reading on white German Shepherds WGSDs and it does seem like the white ones are more senstive,  some will be more demanding than any other color GSD, and of course as with all GSDs, they are extremely loyal and protective.

We Did It - Etsy

Builder Man and I have always loved designing, creating, building, etc.  Our home is filled with our little and some big creations (master pieces).  We've talked about maybe trying a few items out on Etsy for a while now.  I finally did it.  I sat down and created an Etsy shop for us to play around with.  I've only got a few of his beautiful wooden log boxes listed so far and we'll just see how it goes.  I'm planning to create a few things that I have pictured in my head also for listing.

I placed the link to it at the top of the side bar here so if you you have a few minutes, go on over and take a peak.  Here it is also.   http://www.etsy.com/shop/AtticOfHeirlooms

The winter blues have set in, I always look forward to spring this time each year.  How about you?
Our weather has been mild and spring like so I'm not suffering too much.  I know a lot of cold frosty weather is yet to come in the next couple of months though. The fireplace is ready for a toasty little fire one evening when we do get a cold spell.  When I cleaned out the Christmas decorations, I didn't put anything in there.  I've always said it but one of these days I am going to cook in that thing.  Maybe a big dutch oven of chili.

Have a blessed day and thanks for stopping by.

Burlap Burlap Burlap & More

Hey there everyone. I guess by now everyone is getting settled back into their normal schedules and routines after Christmas and ringing in 2013. I crave normal after three months of celebrating, decorating, and eating. We kick into pre-spring cleaning and planning around here. Way too many projects are always rolling around in our creative DIY brains but that's what keeps us going.

I have always loved burlap. The earthy texture, the feel, even the smell. I'm adding a lot of burlap into our bedroom as I redecorate it. I'm sort of doing things backwards by doing the little projects first. The major projects for the bedroom are a french door, paint job, building a new headboard, and revamping the beautiful furniture that we've had for years.

Here are my two inspirational boards that I've gathered from online sources and what I already have.

Pinterest is the best invention ever! Don't you agree. My niece and I get into lengthy conversations about our pins and plans.

The above is a collection of pictures found on Pinterest and other online sites.  Our current lamps will look a lot like the one in the top left corner after we are done.  I have got to have oversized knobs to hang pictures on like top right.  I love the brushed bronze hardware from Lowes that I found and will be changing out the hardware on our nightstands, dresser, and armoir.  The little burlap flower is sold by Hobby Lobby but as you can see in the picture below I decided to make my own.
Check out the precious little burlap birds I found last fall at Hobby Lobby.  How did any of us ever live without that big wonderful store?  They were spring items on clearance and you know me!  I check out them clearance isles religiously.  They sit in front of the toss pillows on our bed when it's made.  This morning I'm washing sheets so the bed isn't made.

Well, as you can see it's pretty much back to normal around Lillie Mae Acres.  Our heads are spinning with ideas, plans, and projects. This is our normal.  What is your normal?
